Figure de style – 20 years of immersive creation with fig55

To celebrate fig55’s 20th anniversary, its sister company Hubblo’s 5th anniversary, and the Société des arts technologiques [SAT]’s 30th anniversary, Figure de style is bringing together a selection of their landmark immersive works from November 3 to 14.
This anniversary program, which takes the form of a retrospective, brings together cinema, music, and visual arts.
From the words of Serge Bouchard to those of René Derouin, from the songs of the Roomful of Teeth ensemble to the sounds of the Arctic, these landmark works invite audiences to experience stories in new ways through the power of storytelling, the strength of each artist’s vision, and the unique fulldome format.
The program concludes with Résonances boréales, a 360° immersive performance in which compositions performed live on piano by Roman Zavada engage in a dialogue with images of the northern lights.

fig55: new immersive projects in the works
After 20 years of creative work, fig55 continues to explore the narrative, artistic, and technological possibilities of immersive formats. A pioneer of fulldome filmmaking in Canada, the company has developed a distinctive approach over the years, translating the language of cinema and documentary into a 360-degree space. This approach has helped bring Québec stories and artists to international audiences, notably with Territoires des Amériques, which has received several major awards at specialized festivals, and Rêveries d’un routier solitaire, featuring Serge Bouchard, which has reached thousands of viewers. More recently, Les Frontières de l’infini has received notable industry recognition and continues its journey through several international festivals.
This drive to push the boundaries of immersive storytelling continues with several projects currently in development, including new productions: one in collaboration with David Suzuki and another with the family of Hubert Reeves. Major music projects in development will be announced soon.
