RÉSONANCES BORÉALES IS SHOWING AT THE SAT!

Beneath the Northern Lights of the Northwest Territories, let yourself be carried away by the captivating piano of Roman Zavada during an immersive live performance in the Satosphere.

With an upright piano anchored on the rocks of the Canadian Shield, at the edge of the taiga, Roman Zavada created compositions inspired by one of the planet’s most spectacular and majestic phenomena: the Northern Lights of the Northwest Territories.

Praised by critics and audiences alike for its beauty and originality, Boreal Resonances is a 360° immersive dome experience featuring Zavada’s piano performance. This experience transports audiences beyond the 60th parallel, where the piano engages in dialogue with the vibrant energies of the Northern Lights.

Roman Zavada is a self-taught pianist of Québécois and Ukrainian heritage whose creative approach is rooted in instinct, spontaneity, and improvisation. Introduced to the piano at an early age, he later developed a passion for performance by accompanying silent films, improvising live musical narratives that merged with the works on screen. He eventually returned to his own compositions with an ambitious project: Boreal Resonances.

Inspired by northern landscapes and the splendor of the Northern Lights, Zavada composed nine evocative pieces from twenty hours of improvisation recorded in the boreal forest of Prelude Lake, in the Northwest Territories. Each piece reflects the unique sensibility of northern regions.
