On the road with Serge Bouchard
Hubblo, Radio-Canada and the Société des arts technologiques [SAT] are pleased to announce the presentation of Rêveries d’un routier solitaire, an extraordinary sound and immersive experience that pays tribute to the profound thinking of Quebec radio host and anthropologist Serge Bouchard.
From April 21 to June 3, inside the SAT dome, the public will travel aboard Serge Bouchard’s legendary red Mack truck and immerse themselves in his reflections on Quebec, its territory, the Innu nation, and the universal connections between humans and nature.
With Rêveries d’un routier solitaire, audiences dive into an immersive dome journey through the words of Serge Bouchard. An anthropologist, writer, and keen observer of the land and the people who inhabit it, he invites us aboard his legendary truck for a journey that is both physical and inward.
Carried by archival audio from Serge Bouchard’s appearances on Radio-Canada and accompanied by a spectacular 360-degree visual experience, the film juxtaposes grand landscapes with rich reflections, often punctuated by warm smiles.
From quiet roads to endless skies, Serge invites us to look at our world in a new way. An ode to nature, a tribute to Innu wisdom, and a declaration of love for our land, Rêveries d’un routier solitaire transforms listening into a true experience.
Directed by Patrick Bossé—known in particular for Territoires des Amériques—and produced by fig55, Rêveries d’un routier solitaire brings Serge Bouchard’s voice into the dome—at once grand and comforting, sometimes sharp.
“The choice of an immersive format also naturally aligns with his path as an anthropologist. Throughout his life, Bouchard immersed himself in environments and realities that were foreign to him in order to better understand them,” says director Patrick Bossé.
From April 21 to 25, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) will also offer a gourmet stop inspired by North American truck stops. A special menu created by chef Catherine Lépine Lafrance and an affordable dinner-and-show package will allow visitors to extend the journey.
