Tartupaluk at TIFF 2026

We are proud to announce that TARTUPALUK, an interactive virtual reality experience created by Laakkuluk Williamson, will have its World Premiere at the inaugural Innovation HUB of TIFF: The Market, taking place in Toronto from September 10–16.
TARTUPALUK is an interactive virtual reality experience set in the imagined Republic of Tartupaluk, located on a very real tiny Arctic island between the northernmost tip of the North American continent and Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland). Created by Greenlandic-Canadian artist and writer Laakkuluk Williamson, the work invites audiences to explore the island and become citizens of a nation of circumpolar lovers. Both poetic and satirical, this Inuit utopia replaces imperialist claims with a vision of connection, encounter, and community.
