I SAW THE FUTURE

In 1964, Arthur C. Clarke revealed his vision of the future to the BBC cameras. Famous for having collaborated with Stanley Kubrick on 2001: A Space Odyssey, the British author projected with astonishing precision the mutations brought about by the advent of the digital age. He glimpses the Internet, artificial intelligence, transhumanism and extends his vision far into space through future interstellar travel.

By revisiting the signal transmitted by these first cathode-ray images, this experimental film in 3D virtual reality literally plunges us into the sound and visual matrix at the heart of this archive.

I Saw The Future immerses viewers in a three-dimensional space that echoes the futuristic predictions of a visionary humanist scientist.

François Vauthier

Director

François Vautier is a multidisciplinary artist. After studying visual arts and audiovisual design, he pursued a long career as an art director and set designer for various television channels. While acquiring extensive experience as a director with numerous music videos, commercials and experimental shorts, François’ passion for images led him to pursue his research in audiovisual design and discover new filming processes in virtual studios.

His filmography, which today includes several feature-length and immersive films, reveals a personal universe in which the limits of space and time are questioned through sensory immersion and innovative graphic forms. François’ work revolves around two central themes: the absolute and the future of humanity. His recent films I Saw the Future and Recoding Entropia, shown at the Venice Film Festival and selected for numerous festivals, bear witness to this.
