LES EMPIRES

A synth-heavy piece inspired by science-fiction and mythology. 

In a surreal odyssey, LES EMPIRES depicts the cyclical nature of power, decay, and rebirth through the lens of imaginary empires that never existed. 

Inspired by Krautrock veterans Manuel Göttsching and Tangerine Dream and more recently by artists like Alessandro Cortini or Caterina Barbieri, Guillaume Coutu Dumont composes retro-futuristic pieces full of warmth and imperfections, typical of the ambient synthetic sounds of another era. Soft percussion and repetitive melodies create a hypnotic and nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of an age that may never have existed. Merging abstract visuals, symbolism and fractured narrative threads, Line Katcho conjures a shifting mirage of power structures rising and crumbling in eternal loops, echoing forgotten pasts and fabricated futures. Time bends, history blurs, and the viewer is left navigating the psychological remains of ambition and entropy.

Line Katcho makes work that stays with you. The Montreal composer and new media artist operates at the intersection of sound and image — not to illustrate or explain, but to provoke, to move, to leave a mark. 
Across AV performance, film, virtual reality, and projection mapping, she crafts experiences that are at once visceral and cinematic — fusing abstraction with narrative, experimentation with tradition, raw affect with formal precision.

Guillaume Coutu Dumont 

Following his initial musical ventures with funk and jazz bands, and after studying electroacoustic composition as well as Latin and classical percussion, Guillaume Coutu Dumont established himself in the early 2000s as a key figure on both the Montreal and international electronic music scenes, through his work with duos such as EGG, Chic Miniature, and LUCI. 
Throughout his career, Guillaume Coutu Dumont has composed, produced, directed, and mixed over 100 albums, EPs, or singles released on a long list of international labels.
